Villa 009 is confluence of contemporary design and classical highlights. A juxtaposition of soft forms with clean straight lines used in an amorphous and geometric method sets the tone at the very onset. The intricate floor inlay is inspired by a vintage rug photograph from the Claridges Hotel in London. The black and white marble lines lead you in, form an oval and go straight ahead to and join an art decor glass and metal door. Above, the ceiling is projected down in a form that partially mimics the flooring inlay. The combination of the intricacy below and the organic forms above creates a bold and dramatic statement. The moulded skirting with the classical doorframe add richness to the home and form a very specific and unique language for it.

On the left of this is the main living room. The modern cluster is from Restoration Hardware. Deep teal, dove grey and taupe from the furniture, the glow of the semiprecious stones is the centre table from DeMuro Das add sophistication while the blush and beige of the rug add softness and pick the blush shades from the Arjun Rathi hanging light in the corner and the dining clusters that is further ahead. A print by Shaid Datawala provides a reprieve from the sophistication adds pop and quirk to the space.

In the dining, the Scarlet Splendour dining set sits under a double-height area with a voluptuous dome ceiling. A sleek light from Arjun Rathi hangs down and exaggerates the volume of the negative space it creates around it. A customised Channapatna sculpture is placed in a linear arch. The wall has a soft fluted texture. The whole room exudes glamour and style.

Upstairs, the family room is composed of a sofa and a bubble chair also from Restoration Hardware. From here, one can look down and admire the geometric Scarlet Splendour table designed by Matteo Cibic. The details of the fluted wall and Channapatan installation are clearer at eye level. On either side are the 2 daughters’ rooms respectively.

The youngers daughters’ room has finely woven style inlay of black and white marble. The headboard wall of the bed is customised by Eleatz Home who used local karigars and employed the applique technique to create modern abstractions of cacti by reusing waste fabrics. This one-of-a-kind piece evokes a sense of youth and vivaciousness. A carved four-poster bed makes the room charming and cozy. The bathroom is a combination of botanical tiles paired with a pink marble creating symmetry with the room.

Across the hall, the older daughters room too has an inlay but in green, grey and white in a larger more geometric pattern of cubes. The whole room is painted in a light rose colour adding a sense of maturity to the space. The bed is in a greyish olive upholstery and stands out elegantly against the rosiness. The pink-ness continues into the bathroom which has grey marble and pink mosaics tiles.

On the second level, the master bedroom is grand and arresting. Black rafters adorn the pitched roof. A Pair of Arjun Rathi Chandeliers hang down over a sleek metal four poster bed. Aubergine and olive pieces from DeMuro Das add opulence which is continued in the bathroom. Ponnaza marble is used on the walls and has hints of deep purple and green seen in the bedroom furniture.

The home won’t be complete without a mention on the small but splendid powder rooms above and below. They are meticulously hand painted by an artist. The one below is a repetitive tribal pattern of lines and dashes. The one above is a glistening botanical of Musa and Banana leaves and glows with an iridescent quality.

The home is light and airy with rich textures, colours, and details that make it extremely sophisticated, elegant and timeless.
