The TT House is a residential project designed for a family of four, situated on a 40 feet wide and 80 feet deep plot at a T-junction Road with the front facing west, exposed to the afternoon sun. The client's preference for a Vaastu-compliant house initiated the placement of a blank, white fortress-like wall to balance the energy flow into the house. Over time, this wall will be adorned with creepers.
The architectural challenge of the house lies in composing a visually appealing form amidst the chaotic electric pole lines in front of the site and the blank white wall.
The soul of this house lies in the spacious void, created in the middle of the house that binds all areas together. Harnessing the plot’s linear design a pathway seamlessly connects living, dining, pooja (prayer), kitchen, study, and private living areas on both levels.
The circular opening in the living wall disrupts the space’s rigidity visually linking the vertical circulation & the open pooja wall situated between staircase that overlooks the courtyard. A naturally lit flight of stairs to the first-floor private areas casts shifting shadows & patterns throughout the day.
The vertical tiltable louvers installed in this west facing house provide privacy & shield against harsh sunlight. This enables the residents to regulate natural light which creates a comfortable & ambient environment. These louvers extend towards the master bedroom, overlooking the terrace garden ensuring privacy while maintaining ventilation. This arrangement creates a tranquil ambience by minimizing glare & allowing gentle, diffused sunlight during the daytime.
