The linear house in the rural setting , is home to a family of 3 in Palakkad. The inverted roof highlights the entire structure along with the exposed stone masonry and various natural tones. The whole structure is divided into two zones as per the user convenience through a green buffer and connected through a vibrant corridor. The whole idea was to create a space where inhabitants would feel warm and cozy. As we move through the living room one could establish a line of vision through the entire house, as it is seamless. Functionality was the key to the design as the client made it clear as he needs every nook and corner of the house should be utilized without compromising on the aesthetics.
Darker tones along the house have been contrasted with the shades of blue , yellow and wood throughout the interior. Interiors are designed in a way that embraces the whole structure. The linear array of windows extending throughout the facade allows the wind to flow in and out. A simple green courtyard in the middle allows the inhabitants to take a pause in their busy lives and enjoys the natural setting around. The single storeyed residence has a chill out space in the first floor with an extended balcony to peek into the lush green paddy fields.
The movement throughout the house is very simple, exactly in a linear pattern without any complications. Concrete finish and shades of black has been seen in various spaces to create a darker tone and earthy shades are used in contrast. The alluring view from the verandah to the fields is extended through the landscaped area in the front. Openings are entirely done using wood.
