After receiving a concise brief, the clients outlined their project's essential requirements: six bedrooms for their family and guests, a spacious living room, a well-designed kitchen, a comfortable dining area, and a dedicated home theatre. There was one more requirement which was put forth by the client that was to have activities at the terrace. Thus all these needs were carefully understood and after understanding the design style which the client has envisioned the design process had begun. In line with the clients' vision, an additional requirement emerged during the design process: incorporating an architectural element that would differentiate the structure and establish a captivating identity. The team enthusiastically embraced this challenge, aiming to create an iconic feature that would capture attention, generate admiration, and infuse the structure with character and allure for residents and passers-by alike.

The process of design started by formulating a design concept which aligned with the client’s design style and also incorporated the functionality, technicalities & also be aesthetically pleasing. So, the concept revolved around the creating open spaces which would help in connecting the outside to inside as well as providing a private open space while accommodating the requirements laid down by the client. Another concept which was thought about was of the overlooking spaces and an addition of bridge acting as connecting element binding all the spaces together. In addition to these concepts there was a concept about the play of volumes which helped in enhancing the experience of the space and enhances the transformation of feeling the grandeur when entering the structure from the outside. Additionally, the concept of private garden which was added was separated from the public areas of the house by the help of a perforated wall by allowed the public areas to be viewed from the garden but not vies versa. In conclusion, the concept of open spaces and strategic arrangement of overlooking spaces played a pivotal role in shaping a visually captivating, spatially dynamic, and aesthetically pleasing design.

During the process of designing the spaces & reaching the final form, a significant mass was deliberately removed from the north side. This strategic decision aimed to maximize the surface area and allow ample diffused light to penetrate into the spaces. Another important consideration was the placement of vertical circulation within the structure, which was strategically positioned on the south face. Moving on to the planning process, meticulous efforts were invested to create a layout where the spaces seamlessly overlooked one another. In pursuit of this objective, the staircase was ingeniously designed to serve as a bridge connecting all the bedrooms. As a result, it not only offered functional access between the levels but also served as a visual connection, overlooking the living room, library cum lounge spaces, and the tranquil garden area. In the process to enhance the concept of play of volumes there were majorly three distinct types of volumes which were used with its own unique characteristics. Firstly, there was the captivating double-height space of the living room, which exuded grandeur and openness. Secondly, the mezzanine floor, with its intermediate height between one and a half floors, hosted the inviting library cum lounge area. Also while designing, the movement of sun and its effect on different spaces were considered carefully thus on the western façade where the lounge area is situated there were fins which were installed at a specific angle so to mitigate the harsh sunlight entering the from the west. These fins were designed in such a way that they allowed partial sunlight to enter in such a way that the harsh sunlight gets cut down and filtered light enters so that there is natural light coming into the space. Consequently, the concept of open spaces and interconnectedness was amplified, weaving together a harmonious architectural experience.
