"A house is a reflection of one’s personality, ideology, and beliefs." This idea captures the essence of their architectural project in Chikkamagaluru, where they designed a family home for four that draws inspiration from the past while integrating modern sensibilities. Although "Saraswathi" features a contemporary architectural style, its name connects them to their roots and cultural heritage. This emphasis on tradition and values is most clearly expressed in the Pooja room, which serves as the heart of the home.

The concept of the verandah is inspired by the local architectural style, allowing them to create a space that truly responds to the family’s needs. This area has become a warm gathering spot where the family spends a lot of their evenings together, sharing stories and creating memories. Informal yet inviting, the entrance jagli fosters connections between family members and neighbors, enhancing a sense of community. It’s a welcoming space that encourages laughter and conversation, serving as a beautiful bridge between the comfort of home and the vibrant life outside.

To create an intimate living space, the drawing room is set apart from the foyer, allowing for separation from the rest of the house when needed. This design offers flexibility, ensuring privacy for formal gatherings while maintaining a cozy atmosphere for the family. The Pooja room is the heart of the house, designed as an atrium to visually connect with the rest of the home. Upon entry, a striking 20-foot wall clad in onyx captures attention, drawing visitors and family members towards the Pooja room and enhancing its sense of tranquility and spiritual importance.

The house feels warm and welcoming due to the carefully chosen materials, with white flooring and teak veneer as the primary components of the palette. They aimed to create distinct identities for each space based on its purpose and the personality of its users. For example, the use of black marble in the drawing room lends a formal feel, evoking luxury and sophistication. The sons' rooms have a playful nature, enhanced by vibrant colors and textures through concrete finishes and Duco paint. In contrast, the master bedroom features marble cladding, instilling a sense of authority and creating an atmosphere of elegance and confidence.

The family space on the first floor exudes energy, primarily used by the sons of the house. It extends into a balcony, providing ample room for informal gatherings and entertaining friends. This connection to the outdoors enhances the lively atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for socializing.
To create privacy and soften the light, large screens were installed in the façade. These screens not only add aesthetic value but also fulfill a crucial function, providing necessary privacy without sacrificing natural light. This thoughtful design element strikes a balance between openness and seclusion, enhancing the overall comfort of the home.

The dynamic façade, featuring varying scales and volumes with its large screens, achieves harmony through a careful selection of materials. The combination of wood and marble, alongside white painted walls, creates a composition that exudes calmness without feeling monotonous. This blend adds depth and interest, enhancing the overall aesthetic while maintaining a serene atmosphere.

Overall, this project reflects the client’s lifestyle and highlights how architecture can positively impact people’s lives. By thoughtfully incorporating design elements that resonate with their values and activities, the home becomes a true expression of their identity, enhancing daily experiences and fostering connections within the space.
