It is the dream of every designer to design a studio for themselves, some stories inspired us, some quotes motivates us, that’s how we come out ,to liberate their own thoughts for their studio called  Raool….

Creating energy conscious spaces with ethnic essence is their forte, Thus they are aiming to create seamless flowing space where architecture and interior will become a unique emotional experience. The studio occupies a land parcel of 1500 sq.ft. where allowed footprint is @600 sq.ft. with common wall structure on one side , and a reserve green belt on other side of the plot, located on suburban edge of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, M.S.

The design approach was pragmatic focusing on creating a mass structure, carved with interesting spaces within. It emphasizes on communication, introduces discovery, curiosity and surprises, becomes fantastic element that gives a totally new dynamic to the life within a studio. The design was conceptualized as a block complimenting the required function as well as the climatic conditions. The openness of the layout and simplicity is contradicted yet complimented by the progression of the experience and the sensual experience.

The Studio is planned in three layer as per occupancy required ,along the three floors. One enters the office walking through a path along the landscape area. The main door opens in a courtyard with a water body and a wall fountain gives the traditional essence to the space… where the stepping stones led you to the waiting and conference area.

Hence forth all the spaces are choreographed with a open courtyard along with the staircase which interacts with the whole space, acting as a pivotal force. The play of light throughout the studio is complemented by a rather restrained color and material palette. The staircase flights and the landings at multiple levels overlooks the courtyard, the visual links further glorifies the design. Play of light and shade creating different patterns thus adding to the quality of the space Landing provided with a old doors and window as an artifacts creates the rich interactive spaces with ethnic essence.

Here walls and the ceilings do not define the spaces but the movement of the occupants does, it is almost like a series of the frames that moving, are showing off their contents. The wooden floating staircase leads you to First floor contains the working studio provided with varandha happened to be a good interactive space before you enters or leaving from studio.

The studio enjoys the panorama and light, it has glass partition on courtyard side while on other side had a long balcony peeping out on landscape part of the of the plot. Standing in balcony one can always enjoys the nature  with the rustle of the leaves when wind blows through them, the inkling of the raindrops and the whistling of birds inspiring us to create more such spaces. Seamless line art work on cupboards remembering the people we met in our life who inspired us to be in the profession adds artistic well as emotional values to the volume.

The third floor designed to accommodate multiple activities required for studio. It is a hall with landscape court having a skylight ,where we can perform activities Like presentations, model making, and some recreational activities. The spaces are composed of all natural and earthy materials like the exposed concrete slabs , Black Granite floor, wood, etc. The exposed brick walls resembles the traditional Indian weaving patterns adds a different value to the most conventional material like brick. The house is conceived as an introvert form with a solid mass of brick which stands still and bold from outside. On other hand the dynamic play of light and volumes is revealed when one walks through different spaces inside.

Overall the design is ornamented with subtle style and straight lines, natural material like black granite wood, exposed ceiling , the exposed brick work exterior accentuated the simplicity with ethnic essence. The double height volumes, fenestrations and visual links further glorifies the design. Play of light and shade creating different patterns thus adding to the quality of the space, use of the strategically placed landscaped areas and its texture makes it a fascinating space.
