Embarking on Project INSCAPE, my role as designer extended beyond the conventional boundaries of design; it became a transformative journey weaving together modern aesthetics, earthy tones, and a commitment to sustainable practices. This beautiful house, spanning 2200 sq. Ft, is a 3-bedroom apartment in the heart of Secunderabad.

The canvas for this project comprised a formal living room, an informal living room integrated with the dining space, and three bedrooms. A small pooja room, accessible from the informal living space, added a spiritual dimension. The east-facing balcony attached to the dining area became a captivating feature, capturing the beauty of sunrise and bathing the space in natural light throughout the day.

In the overall scheme of the house, the informal living dining space emerged as a nucleus, holding immense significance as the heart of the home and a hub for various activities. It demanded a design that seamlessly accommodates diverse functions, serving as a party venue, an extension of the pooja room, a leisure space, and a transitional zone. The challenge lay in crafting a space that effortlessly blended these roles while retaining its unique character.

To achieve this, a touch of solid blue colour was introduced, creating a focal point that stood out against the subtle backdrop. The curve of the sofa added a layer of drama, enhancing the space's vibrancy and versatility. The design directive was clear – to craft a zen space with clean geometry and soothing colours, embodying a sense of grounded, natural, and harmonious living.

The overarching colour palette, harmonizing whites, greys, and earthy tones, played a pivotal role in articulating the artistic expression of the house. This medley of hues imbued the space with sophistication and adaptability, catering to the couple's lifestyle, particularly their penchant for socializing and hosting gatherings.

The bar area, a focal point for those who relish social interactions, was conceived as a captivating oasis that seamlessly merged functionality with aesthetics. Breaking away from the straight lines that defined the house, a beautiful arch added a dynamic element to the space, fostering a sense of flow and unity. Painted in a captivating shade of blue, the bar area became a visual anchor exuding tranquillity and sophistication.

A carefully curated shelf provided a platform for the display of exquisite glassware, premium spirits, and tasteful décor, elevating the bar area into a personalized haven. The intentional use of a single dash of colour throughout the project ensured a cohesive vocabulary that spoke and exuded the essence of zen living.

Key features of the design included a commitment to overall economic sustainability, maintaining a soft colour and material palette across common spaces, and ensuring the bedrooms reflected the personalities of the inhabitants while seamlessly integrating with the overall design scheme. The result is more than a residence; it is a symphony of mindful design, functionality, and aesthetics—a sanctuary where every detail contributes to the harmonious living experience.
