A residence where contemporary meets classic, Peninsula Residence is designed for a young couple who loved colour and pattern. While playful, the home is still mature and timeless. Indian craft is used across the home in a contemporary, relevant manner. Art, craft, and graphics are infused in many areas of this home making surfaces come alive with textures that are intriguing.

Craftsmanship flows through the entire home, and is beautifully expressed in various forms. Thikri is a 400 year old curvature glass form, originating in the deserts of Rajasthan. This delicate art form finds expression on a panel behind the headboard in one of the bedrooms. It was custom made by Thikri artisans in Udaipur. The marble detailing on the headboard is crafted from waste marble sourced at site.

The bespoke dining table is detailed with custom marble inlay work, hand made by marble artisans in Rajasthan. A stunning Senaka Senanayake painting frames the table and brings a splash of colour into this neutral space.

Detailed woodcraft is also seen across the home. The study shutters have slender spindles hand crafted as louvers giving it a refined quality. The master bedroom and bathroom show details of wood and metal work in their construction. The client's love for colour is expressed in the design of the family room, which features panelled indigo walls paired with a dark wooden floor.

Antique ceramic blue and white Chinoiserie stools and an exquisite rug from a private collector in Bangalore are paired with contemporary furniture pieces. This style of pairing, seen throughout the home, adds a rich, soulful character to this timeless design. The in-built bar has a wall paper by Toile Indienne that is titled ‘draupadi ka swayamwar’. It very beautifully captures the essence of this joyous Indian legacy. The powder room is a play in colour, graphic and form. Pinks and Greens and black make the powder very dramatic and playful.
