Nestled within the bustling streets of Surat, Gujarat, this architectural gem stands as a testament to thoughtful design amidst dense urbanity. Situated on a corner plot amidst rows of houses, the site boasts a strategic positioning, with its longer façade embracing the eastern horizon along the main access road, while the southern boundary aligns with a tertiary street. When our discerning client approached us, two key directives emerged; a strict limitation on built-up area not exceeding 3500 sq. ft., despite the surplus space available, and a keen desire for bedroom balconies to open towards the main access road, fostering a symbiotic relationship with the vibrant neighbourhood.

In response to these directives and mindful of the site's context, our design ethos revolved around optimizing spatial arrangements to ensure each area receives ample natural light and ventilation. Wind direction emerged as a crucial consideration, with prevailing southerly and southwesterly breezes dictating strategic design interventions. By subtly slanting the double wall on the southern facade, we orchestrated a choreography that welcomed the winds into the communal spaces and bedrooms, ensuring a constant flow of fresh air throughout the residence.

The architectural narrative unfolds across three meticulously planned levels, each curated to harmonize functionality with aesthetic allure. The ground floor caters to pragmatic needs, housing parking facilities alongside a versatile space earmarked for future office use. Ascending to the first floor unveils a dynamic interplay of spaces, encompassing a welcoming living area, a contemporary kitchen, and a double-height dining space that serves as the nucleus of social gatherings. A strategically positioned bedroom completes this level, offering respite amidst the urban hustle.

Transitioning to the second floor unveils the epitome of luxury living, with two master bedrooms meticulously designed to embrace the vibrant street life below. Semi-covered balconies extend from each bedroom, offering panoramic views of the bustling thoroughfare. A striking feature of this level is the cantilevered Juliet balcony seamlessly integrated with the dining area, affording an uninterrupted 180-degree vista of the surrounding urban landscape.

Internally, the interiors exude an understated elegance, characterized by a minimalist aesthetic punctuated by vibrant hues that infuse each room with vitality. Functionality takes precedence, with every element curated to enhance livability while maintaining a cohesive design language. In essence, this architectural masterpiece not only embodies the essence of contemporary living but also seamlessly integrates into the urban fabric of Surat, offering a haven of tranquility amidst the vibrant chaos of city life.
