This 17-year-old three-bedroom house with an unfinished new floor needed a full interior renovation to tie-in the old and the new, merging the modern and contemporary. The house of Beige, Browns and Blues.

The living room is a bright and airy space defined by a bespoke sectional sofa and armchairs, creating the perfect conversational zone. The pooja room is a modern interpretation of the traditional temple shikharas with a stepped floating pyramid supported by glass walls. The glass double doors of the pooja come together to form a single portal with decorative brass handles.

The backdrop to the dining is a teakwood veneer wall with grooves that help to tuck away a powder room and store room. The wall panelling is reflected onto the false ceiling as well, giving definition to an otherwise open dining space. The movable kitchen island flanks the dining, transitioning from a breakfast counter to a preparation area while also making the kitchen an interactive space for guests. The blue subway tiles paired with handle-less teakwood cabinets form a seamless base for the statuario quartz countertop.

The family lounge is an informal space for gathering, playing board games and relaxation. It forms a lively space created by the rich yellow texture paint and repurposed old columns of the bungalow. The traditional theme of the lounge continues in the door to the hometheatre, which reveals a modern and compact high-capacity space for movie-nights. The elevated wall-to-wall bench at the back creates the perfect spot for the extended family to come together. The dark walls of the room are accentuated with a circular cove and diffused lighting.
