The project, titled Kanavu, is a traditional two-bedroom vacation house with a vernacular outline. Elements like pillars, and a sloped traditional roof embodies the charm and elegance of traditional Kerala ancestral houses also known as tharavadu. This house is designed to offer a serene retreat while reflecting timeless design principles.

The house features a spacious external verandah, a quintessential element in vernacular homes. This covered area extends along the front, providing a shaded space for relaxation and leisure. Supported by beautifully carved pillars, the verandah serves as a welcoming transition from the outdoors to the interior. Topping the house is a sloped Kerala roof, designed with a steep pitch and covered in traditional manglore tiles. This roof design is practical for managing the heavy monsoon rains typical of the region, allowing for effective rainwater drainage. The extended eaves of the roof also provide additional shelter to the verandah, contributing to the home's cooling effect and protecting the living spaces from direct sunlight.
