“Our inspiration came from the colour becoming a common unifying feature in the home, bathing each space with accents of other hues making a cameo against its omnipresence. Additionally, it was the aspect of detail-orientation in every nook of this home that was crucial; it came together with its pared-down yet elevated aesthetic which stitched together the ethos at the House of Grey Matter”, shares Vishesh Khetawat.

An axial passage leads into the home. Located off the entryway passage, the kitchen occupies a petite rectilinear portion of the house. At the end of the passage is the informal seating space, formal living area, and dining zone. The informal seating area is characterized by rooted materiality, sitting wedged between two focal walls that define the space. The adjoining deck bordering the living area has been conceived as an extension of the communal areas. In addition, the television cum prayer room has been immaculately woven into the space through a triad of sliding brass-mullioned. The powder bathroom is immersed in a monochrome vanilla onyx marble.

In the informal seating area, an arched section on the wall hosts fluted wood panels juxtaposed against the light greige wall. The curvilinear geometry is further iterated via the organic form of the sofa and the customized rug in hues of pastel pink and crimson red. The charcoal grey, deep brown, and beige shades of the graphically veined book-matched marble line the space in the company of an almost inconspicuous glass-bodied console.

The space represents classic simplicity while thoroughly exploring diverse materials and focal additions in the form of luminaires and sculptural art. The onyx-topped and teakwood dining table pairs seamlessly with the dual-toned ribbed upholstered chairs, sharing proximity with the built-in bar cum credenza. A crystal-drop cluster by The White Teak Company comes together visually to compose the ornamental crowning light, while a ‘Splash’ wall sculpture by White Domus Designs is a conversation starter in the inviting nook.

Bathed in a medley of neutral beiges, grey, accents of gold, and a sliver of blush pink, the living room is steeped in umpteen natural daylight that makes its way indoors via the peripheral alfresco deck. An accent wall framing the television boasts of a satin-finished herringbone veneer and mirrored steel inlay detailing, ingeniously reflecting the light indoors. A 5-D hydro natural marble sourced from Raw Steen variety claims the wall posing as a backdrop to the seating space, exuding an undertone of blush which ubiquitously comes forth further in the choice of upholstery anchored herein. An exquisite ensemble of bespoke deconstructed rings levitates over the space, creating the pièce de résistance lighting crafted by Arjun Rathi. The adjoining deck bordering the living area has been conceived as an extension of the communal areas with leather-finished pink Indian marble which makes.

In addition, the television cum prayer room has been immaculately woven into the space through a triad of sliding brass-mullioned doors which optimises light and its reach indoors through the array of Venetian blinds lining the lofty windows. Drenched in sunlight, the prayer nook has been defined by encasing the same in a pair of double-sided 3D-cut marble jaali screens handcrafted by World of Stones, with selected sections culled out. The television-viewing lounge is complete with a sumptuous leatherette lounger, resting beneath an assemblage of cylindrical shaft-form ceiling lights.
