The project is situated in Thrissur district, known as the Cultural Capital of Kerala, in India. The site is near Guruvayoor temple, which is one of the most important places of worship and a popular wedding destination in Kerala. The property is next to the three star hotel of the client. Though there are many auditoriums around because of the peculiarity of the location, an event center was most suited over there as it can utilize the existing rooms, kitchen, parking and even staffs from the hotel.

So it is envisaged as a place where we can conduct gatherings of any kind. With the built environment, the unbuilt spaces and the landscape are also considered with equal priority. The spaces are designed as multi-functional, which can be moulded into what the function demands. The project consists of two semi open halls, one big and one small, and the related amenities like two rooms for both bride and groom in case of a wedding, a pantry and hand wash area for the dining, toilet block etc. Rest of the amenities of the hotel like rooms, restaurant, bar etc are also an add on to the event center.

The L shaped plot, sightly inside from the main road is connected to it by a pathway. The landscape is designed to give a glimpse of the experience of the space inside right from the beginning of the pathway. Adequate privacy from the surroundings was an issue which is also ensured by creating a plantscape buffer all around. There were three accesses to the property with one of it dividing the plot into two. The footprint of the buildings and the spatial configuration are defined by these constraints.

These semi open halls are steel structures and the amenities part is done with exposed brickwork. The space inside the halls are further defined by giving a fabric layer below the roofing which emphasizes the form externally and also cover the view of the sheet roofing from plain sight. The large roof overhangs provided to protect the structure from monsoon also used as a strong character to the form. The ground is gradually raised to make the hall drive in, which makes it disable friendly and also to conduct auto shows and exhibitions.
