A large variety of collectible art pieces and books populate this upmarket apartment in Bangalore, which also includes a linear sculptural screen. The client's directive was to give the house a refreshed style, with premium finishes and wanted their space to feel open and expansive. They reconfigured the layout to make the most of the natural lighting and limited exterior views. The project involved imagining rooms while bringing in contemporary renditions of traditional requirements, such as a pooja room, showcase, storage and dining crockery unit.

The main concept in the choice of finishes and architectural solutions was to bring sophistication, comfort and privacy. From the front door, a corridor was created with the introduction of a statement privacy screen, with bands of green, brown and textured glass providing them the much needed privacy to their Living Area. They created an interior that combines clean lines with warm wooden surfaces and carefully crafted cabinetry. The cabinetry at the living and dining area is suspended from the floor and ceiling thereby allowing for more floor space to be visible thereby making the space look vast than it is. A compartmentalized wood-clad ceiling in the dining room creates a cozy and intimate feel despite its large volume. Complementing the darker wooden elements, a bright polished Italian marble flooring and light coloured walls have been used.

They decided to use wood in many different ways but give extra care to the details and connections between different materials. They saw an assortment of materials coming together beautifully in the TV unit. Their teenage daughter’s include splashes of bright colour on walls, and furniture in an patterned design, to make the space more playful and energetic. The chosen hues and shades of the master bedroom echo the calming colour tones of being airy and spacious but at the same time cozy, warm and relaxing. The furnishings incorporated in the interiors are with a dash of colour that offer a modern flair and

sophisticated feel.

At the end they played with the space and kept everything bright and airy, yet balancing it by layering in order to give the space depth, character and purpose.
