Located in the heart of a residential neighborhood in Indiranagar, this home holds a special place in our hearts as one of our favorites. Collaborating with our wonderful clients, Bharath and Priya, we aimed to optimize the compact city apartment according to their lifestyle. Breaking down partition walls and adding new ones allowed us to create efficient movement lines and smart storage solutions. We reimagined the poche, that is the space between partitions - transforming it into wardrobes, a TV unit, and a kitchen island.

The new partitions serve as both functional markers and visual dividers, seamlessly connecting different areas. A kitchen island was introduced, integrating cooking, prepping, and eating spaces while maximizing storage. We also created a clever transition space by breaking down a wall and wardrobe in the bedroom, offering access to the common washroom and doubling as a walk-in wardrobe or extension of the living area.

Playing with the duality of partitions enabled us to fulfill various needs, such as storage, a work-from-home area, and a play zone for their daughter, Nila. The living and dining area exudes a cozy atmosphere with a versatile large cabinet, housing a Pooja unit, book displays, and more. The bedroom features a concealed projector screen for movie nights and custom-made teakwood furniture. The balcony, surrounded by lush trees, was designed to accommodate plants and mobile sculptures with a concealed plumbing point. The subtractive design approach also resulted in a study nook and clever storage spaces for books and knick-knacks.

The harmony of materials and textures is evident, with fluted glass and off-white laminates complementing the richness of teakwood louvers and green PU-painted doors with brass handles. The green arched doorways act as graceful transitions, tying together the various design interventions throughout the home. Opening the main door unveils a picturesque scene, highlighting the rounded rectangular doors, intricate thresholds, and the stunning use of green and brass.
